The society meets on the first Wednesday of every month. From October to March, the meetings are held at 7:30pm in the Initiative Hut, Community Centre in Winchburgh. From April to September, the meetings are held at 7pm at Bells Mill Wharf and are followed by a work party.

The main aim of the society is to encourage the people living along side the canal to take an interest in it and see it as an amenity and not a rubbish dump. They do this by holding boat trips and speaking to people we meet on the towpath. They also care for the environment in and around the canal and assist British Waterways by doing litter picks etc. They also take part in community events like local gala days.

In 2006, the society are restoring an old narrow boat for use as a community boat.

The secretary is Ian McDougall , 44 Dunn Place, Winchburgh, EH52, Telephone: 01506 890605. Email: j.a.mcdougall@sbe.hw.ac.uk.
