Roses & Castles
As seen on the great British waterways, this traditional style of painting is often called simply 'Roses & Castles'. Items painted in this style look beautiful aboard a narrowboat but also make a lovely feature in the home or garden.
Terence has enjoyed painting in this style for many years and likes being able to combine the traditional items of the canal boat with everyday items.

About Terence
Born in Yorkshire, youngest of six children, with parents who were steward and stewardess of public houses, never settled and moving from place to place.
In the 1970s his family finally rested in Cheshire, where, as a young boy, Terence had his first taste of narrowboating on a school outing. Each vessel a thing of beauty adorned with the castles and roses of canal boat art. It wasn’t until later in his life, though, that his interest in this art form began.
Years later, he introduced his daughter to the canals - taking time to appreciate the beautiful countryside, wildlife and boats in their finery.
Most of all, though, Terence admired the colourful paraphernalia displayed aboard. The simplicity with which the art is applied and the splendour of what it can become. It was this that appealed to him most as he dusted off his old paintbrushes.
Terence hopes his artwork, in its naive style, can show the beauty that can be found in this traditional British Folk Art - an art that he has grown to love and a history that he has learned to cherish.
