Fleece Inn

  • Worcestershire, WR11 5JE

T: 01386 831173

Popular village inn which retains the atmosphere of centuries past.

The black and white half-timbered building began its' hospitable life in the 14th century, providing shelter for a farmer and his stock under just one long roof. In 1848 Henry Byrd Taplin fancied life as a publican over that of a farmer, and started brewing beer and cider for sale in the small back kitchen. Thus the farmhouse was reborn as a 'licensed house'.

Today, the worn flagstones, exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces take visitors back in time to the 19th century. During quiet periods the steady ticking of the grandfather clock pervades the dimly lit rooms but for the most part, the curved settle and fire-side tables are full of chattering locals and tourists, enjoying traditional ales and a slice of English history.
