UPDATE (10 September 2010): The restriction on the hours of operation has now been lifted.

Where possible, please share locks and make sure all paddles are closed when leaving to save water. In the interest of preserving water levels, we ask that boaters undertake journeys that are necessary.

Due to the severe shortage of water to the Ripon Canal it has become necessary to restrict the movement of craft to maintain safe water levels. Therefore from Wednesday 1st September until further notice the locks on the Ripon Canal will only be operational between the hours 10am to 2pm only, Monday to Sunday. Outside of these hours the locks will be secured and locked to prevent usage to maintain water levels.
