UPDATE (19 March 2012): Wire Lock will remain closed until Friday 30 March 2012, 4pm. The condition of the lock chamber is far worse than anticipated and significant voids have formed behind the walls that require filling with grout. This work is essential to the future stability of the lock. It was not possible to assess the extent of this work until dams were in place and the lock could be completely drained. Brick work contractors are working on site 7 days a week to assist us completing the work as quickly as possible. Additional workers have been drafted to the site to further accelerate the works. We apologise for the inconvenience that this will doubtless cause for some but remain committed to reopening the canal for the Easter holidays. Thank you for your patience and continued support.

UPDATE (30 January 2012): Due to over run on other works, the start of this stoppage has been delayed. ----------------------------------------------------
