We have a dredging project commencing imminently on the Aylesbury Arm. In order to ensure these works can continue we need to ensure we have sufficient supply of water for the Aylesbury Arm in order to allow the dredging works to continue. The decision has therefore been taken to close the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal. This decision has not been taken lightly and has been delayed for as long as possible in order to understand what impact if any the recent wetter weather would have on replenishing reservoir levels. The Aylesbury Arm will be locked with no access or egress as from Thursday 29th September 2011 at 09.00 Hours. At this moment in time we are anticipating that it will remain closed until after the winter stoppage current scheduled to end on 16th December 2011.
