For people who care about Britain’s canals and rivers
Waterway: River Severn »
From 05/12/2011 until further notice
Contractors working for the Environment Agency will be carrying out preparatory works for a flood defence barrier alongside the west bank of the river, slightly downstream of Upton upon Severn bridge.
For the duration of the works the Contractor will be working with floating plant in the river channel adjacent to the “The Swan” hotel. Boaters are advised to stay clear of the works and take due note of the warning lights and buoys
Boaters are further advised that vessels associated with the works will be manoeuvring in and around the works and are requested to approach the area with caution and sound an audible warning. Boaters should wait until the navigation channel is clear before proceeding. Boaters should also note that Upton upon Severn bridge works are affecting the navigation channel and approaching craft may not be following the correct navigation convention to pass beneath the bridge.
British Waterways wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused and kindly request boaters to plan their journeys accordingly.
