The big pump at Crofton has failed. The canal has had to be closed between Lock 51 Wooton Rivers and Lock 60 Crofton until further notice due to very low water levels in the Summit Pound

Repairs have been completed and the lock is now open to navigation.

A boat has damaged the lock gates and they cannot be operated. Repairs will be carried out as soon as possible.

Stoppage: Cadley Top Lock 54 to Wootton Rivers Lock 51

Due to problems encountered on first day of works the closure will be extended by one day
The canal will be closed from Cadley Top Lock 54 to Wootton Rivers Lock 51 to facilitate repairs to the cup at Lock 53 and gate repairs at Lock 54.

To enable the repair of the top gates of Lock 26 the Caen Hill Flight Locks 22 to 28 will be closed.

The stoppage will take place from 8.00am to 4.00pm.

There will be an emergency stoppage this morning to repair a failed anchor plate on lock 29.

Lock 29 will be closed to boat traffic from 9am to 12noon, whilst these repairs are carried out.

Craft approaching from the west can turn at the tail of the lock. If approaching from the east the last available turning point is adjacent to Bridge 150.

UPDATE (21 January 2010): Please note that due to the recent inclement weather and a revisal to the original scope of works the stoppage dates have had to be revised.

Bridge repairs are being undertaken by the Local Authority. In addition, this opportunity will be taken to undertake improvements to the navigation (fendering works etc). These stoppage dates coincide with planned Environment Agency works to Blake’s Lock; Blake’s Lock will be closed for the same period. Undertaking both projects at the same time should significantly reduce disruption to navigation.
