This cycle route is an interesting step back into Birmingham and the Black Country's industrial past; from the basins, past aqueducts and a pumping station, through tunnels, by stables and beyond The Black Country Museum.

From Gas Street Basin in Birmingham, head down the north-east side of the canal along the towpath and follow the main line all the way. At Smethwick, cyclists are advised to use the lower level of the canal.

Pass by the lakes at Sheepwash and through Netherton Tunnel - in pairs or walking, with lights on - through the Coseley Tunnel and all the way as far as Broad Street Basin in Wolverhampton.

Just follow the towpaths - it's easy!
