The Bure Valley Path takes you on journey through some of the most beautiful countryside and villages in Norfolk.

This route begins at Hoveton station, which has links to Anglia Railway's Bittern Line which runs between Norwich and Sheringham. There are parking facilities close to the station. You will initially be cycling along the route of the former Great Eastern Railway which, today, is known as the Bure Valley Railway.Cycle for about three miles and you will go through Coltishall, whose common is a beautiful open space enjoyed by many, especially in the summer months. Coltishall has a train station and also car parking facilities.Shortly after Coltishall station, you will pass through Great Hautbois which has a few houses alongside the beautiful Hautbois common. You will then pass through Little Hautbois, a small hamlet with only a few tiny houses, a ruined church and also Little Hautbois Hall, which was built in 1607. It is just after Little Hautbois that you will be cycling near to the River Bure.After cycling along the river, you will go through Buxton and then Brampton, an attractive village with cottages and a church. Nearby, on the banks of the River Bure, stands Oxnead Hall which was once the home of the Paston family.Continue along the route, passing Brampton station, close to which there is a pub, and further along you will pass by Spratts Green Farm. It is not too far from here that you will have cycled the route to Aylsham station. Aylsham, an active market town with a well-known auction every week, has a 14th century church and beautiful 18th and 19th century buildings.

Getting there

Parking: There is parking at various points along the route, including the beginning and the end.

Public transport: There are train stations at the beginning and end of the route and also along the way. Trains along the route will pick up and drop off passengers on request.
