This deservedly popular route takes you over two aqueducts and past the Claverton Pumping Station.
1: Bradford-on-Avon station
Leave Bradford-on-Avon station and take the 3rd exit from the roundabout, at the next roundabout go straight on pass the cycle hire and join the towpath at the bridge turning left onto the canal towards Bath. Pass the visitor moorings and the Tithe Barn on the right.
2: Avoncliff Aqueduct
After approximately two miles arrive at the Avoncliff Aqueduct which crosses the River Avon. Continue on the towpath for another two miles to Dundas Aqueduct: a short diversion at Dundas will take you down the short restored section of the Somerset coal canal to Brass Knocker Basin.
3: Dundas Aqueduct
Return to Dundas Aqueduct and continue on the towpath. This section of towpath is very popular with walkers and cyclists please give way to walkers and fit and use a bell politely.
4: Claverton Pumping Station After approximately one mile, pass the fully restored Claverton Pumping station on your right. Follow the towpath for another three miles and follow the Sustrans Route 4 diversion through Bath to the train station.
