An easy canalside cycle ride with return travel by train.

1: Newbury railway station From Newbury train station, follow the one-way system to Newbury Wharf. Join the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath here turning left for Kintbury and Hungerford. After 1½ miles cross Guyers footbridge and continue on the other side between the crystal clear River Kennet and the canal.

2: Hamstead Bridge After another 2 miles at Hamstead Bridge follow the signposts off the towpath for Sustrans Route 4, continue on this quiet road ignoring the left-hand turns. After 2 miles and just after the Prince of Wales Pub turn right for Kintbury, cross the canal and the station is on the right.

3: Kintbury Trains back to Newbury run hourly at half past each hour. (Please check before travelling.)
