This simple route takes you out of Leeds and past three sets of three locks, going uphill. The route passes Armley Mills - a working industrial museum - and the ruins of Kirkstall Abbey.

Head out from Leeds along the canal's towpath and follow it all the way to Newlay Lock. Please give way to passing walkers and other users of the towpath.

Getting there

Parking: There's plenty of parking in Leeds city centre.

Public transport: Public transport links are good. Local train stations along the route mean you can start mid-way, or even cycle the route and return by train.
