A nice easy section that takes you all the way to Fort Augustus along the side of the Caledonian Canal. Note the very scenic Kytra lock which sits under the shadow of the ancient Torr Dhuin hill fort, and the Caldonian Canal Heritage Centre, with plenty of information about the canal and its history. .

Start to cross over Oich Bridge until you come to the canal lock on the bridge. Turn left onto the first towpath. As you approach the first lock, look out for the single storied building at the side of it. This means you are getting near "The Weir". (Careful on the cobbles here.)

Pass the Kytra Lock and others. The weirs here are cemented over, making it much safer for riding.

You approach Fort Augustus down a series of locks. On the left is the Caldonian Canal Heritage Centre.
