Edinburgh

"Edinburgh," said the writer Robert Louis Stevenson "Is what Paris ought to be."

Edinburgh Quay brings alfresco waterside dining to the historic streets of Scotland's capital.

Cargo

Address: Edinburgh Quay
EH3 9QG
T: 0131 659 7880

Dining in Cargo is an elegant affair with white leather chairs and sparking french windows. Small circular tables create the perfect base for a power lunch, or you can sweep up the spiral staircase for a more intimate diner a deux with even better views of the bustling quay. Summer evenings can be whiled away on the patio.

Zizzi (Edinburgh)

Address: Edinburgh Quay
EH3 9QG
T: 0131 228 9908

A great place for pizza and pasta with friends. Lounge on a colourful sofa or jostle for position on one of the long wooden benches which fill the bright interior. Colourful artwork hangs on the walls and friendly staff serve up old Italian favourites.

McCowans Brewhouse

Address: Fountainpark, 130 Dundee Street
EH11 1NA
T: 0131 228 8198

The roadside location is not ideal - but McCowans Brewhouse is certainly worth a visit. Floor to ceiling windows bring light flooding into the spacious interior, red pillars provide cheer and comfy sofas enhance the relaxing mood. The pub grub menu holds few surprises, but the portions are healthy and the food tasty. One USP - take a look to the right of the bar and you'll see right through into the beer cellar!
