Set off on the towpath of the Aire and Calder Navigation in Castleford. There are many shops, pubs and places to eat in the town if you want something to do before you begin the walk. There are not many places to stop for refreshments on this section of the route, so it may be handy to bring some drinks and snacks in case you need them. Follow the towpath until you get to Methley Bridge. It is at this point that the path leads you north and through Mickletown before you arrive back onto the towpath of the Aire and Calder Navigation. Continue along the towpath, past Lemonroyd Lock, St Aiden's opencast site and a bird hide before arriving in Woodlesford.
