There is lots of wildlife for you to look out for along the route, including daffodilsm bluebells, snowdrops, herons, small tortoiseshell butterflies, water voles, stonechats and yellowhammers.

The route takes you along footpaths, tarmac and grass. Thsurfaces are flat, although at parts they are uneven.

Waypoints

1. Dagenham Village Church Yard

Follow the path around the edge of the churchyard in Church Lane, leaving the churchyard and walking across the car park. Cross Church Street and continue to the end of the road, where you will turn left, then right into Siviter Way. Follow the road through the car park and then through the gates into Old Dagenham Park.

2. Ridgewell Close

Take the first right footpath past the pavilion and turn left at the end of the path. Walk between the metal fences, keeping the playground on your left. Leave the park and turn left to walk over the pelican crossing. Cross the road, turn right and take the path, which is sign posted Ridgewell Close.

3. River Wantz

From here, follow the road through the gate that leads to Beam Valley, and past the hedge towards the high rise flats in the distance. Walk alongside the playground and up the steps, turning right to walk along the ridge that runs parallel to the River Wantz.

4. Wellinton Close

At the footbridge, cross the river and follow the path to the squeeze gate, which leads into Clemence Road. Cross the road into Leys Avenue and take the second left into Wellington Drive, continuing along this road on the left into Wellington Close.

5. Dagenham Village Church Yard

Go through the squeeze gate at the end of the road and walk down the path and over the river. Take the next path on the right, which leads back to the main road. Cross over the pelican crossing into Church Lane and take the first right back into the churchyard.
