The walk gives you an insight into some of the canal's wildlife, as well as past canal architectural achievements, like the Kelvin Aqueduct and Govan Cottage Bridge.

Starting at Lock 27 (public house) head towards the Kelvin Aqueduct, passing Govan Cottage, built in traditional railway style, the canal once being owned by the Caledonian Railway Company.

From the Aqueduct head down the steps to bring you onto the Kelvin Walkway. At this point turn around to see the full splendour of the Aqueduct.

The Kelvin Walkway takes another waterside route through Glasgow to Dawsholm Park, with its marvellous views of the city.

When you get back to the locks, go over the Bearsden Road bridge (locked in place in 1963 when the canal was closed to navigation) and take a right towards Netherton Farm, where the canal becomes more rural.

Proceed along the towpath until you reach the flight of three locks at Cloberhill.

Getting there
