This short walk takes you beside various points of interest near Birmingham. Small Heath used to be a village of large houses, wealthy estates and farms. Nearby Victoria Park is a great venue for many events year round. The Ackers Trust is an outdoor activity centre offering activities such as canoeing, orienteering and skiing.
Walk along the towpath away from the lock flight. At the first bridge, walk up onto the road and turn left and down off the bridge. At the cross roads turn right and follow this road between a grassy bamking and some housing. Continue right alongside the dual-carriage way.
Follow the road and at the roundabout, turn left down Golden Hillock Road. At the next roundabout cross into the patk and head straight down to the centre with the sports ground on your left. Turn right and go back onto the road. Go straight across the mini roundabout and down the road to a footbridge. Crossing this brings you back down to the canal by the Ackers Trust. Turn right and follow the towpath back along to the top of the lock flight.
