The River Parrett Trail

The River Parrett begins in Cheddington and ends in Combwich. It flows through the Somerset Levels and is largely unnavigated by boats. It offers excellent walking opportunities and a wealth of history on its banks.

The River Parrett Trail takes you through Dorset, Somerset and over the wetlands of the Somerset Levels and Moors. It spans a total of 50 miles and can be done as a series of shorter walks or as a mammoth 50 mile hike over 3 to 4 days. Throughout the walk is the opportunity to explore some wonderful and fascinating scenery of the South-West.You will pass by some enchanting woodland and orchards and the watery habitats of some extraordinary birds. There will also be some quaint limestone cottages, charming Georgian terraces and grand medieval churches along the way.All in all, the walk will help you discover why the landscapes and countryside here is so special.
