Wigglywalks - Froxfield to Hungerford

Froxfield to Hungerford via lawn and park coppices, Littlecote Manor and the Kennet & Avon Canal.

From Froxfield on the A4, take the lane that leads north up the side of Froxfield Hospital.

After approximately 600m around the long right hand corner, follow the bridleway to the left. Follow this through Lawn Coppice and at the crossroads head uphill through Park Coppice. At the bear left and uphill on the surfaced path.

After approximately 400m bear right onto the footpath keeping the field on the left. Stay on the main road going downhill until you have a field on your right and a coppice on your left. When you reach the farm track, turn right and follow the track into the field keeping the River Kennet on the left.

After approximately 1.5km cross the field boundary and visit the remains of the Roman Villa and Orpheus mosaic. Exit Littlecote Manor by following the main road out. Turn left onto the road and after 600m turn right onto the bridleway signed Froxfield. Follow the bridleway into the corner of the field and bear right.

Exit Brickkiln Copse and turn right then left down the hill. Exit at Highclose farmshop and tea rooms. This is a great spot for lunch, or to stock up on fresh, locally grown fruit, vegatables, meat and poultry.

Exit Highclose and turn left onto the A4. The walkway is uneven and narrow in places so take extra care. After 150m cross the road and walk through the field with the blue men in it. Cross the river and canal bridge over the lock, turn left onto the towpath and follow it through Hungerford Marsh back to Hungerford Town Centre.
