Camelon and The Falkirk Wheel

This walk will take you by the Union and Forth & Clyde canals

Start at the car park of the Union Inn at Lock 16 in Camelon and cross over the road bridge to the Forth & Clyde Canal towpath. Follow the towpath for a mile and admire the fantastic wildlife which thrives in and around the waterway before reaching The Falkirk Wheel.

Walk straight up the hill to the top the newly constructed aqueduct and take a few minutes to drink in the beautiful Ochil Hills in the distance before walking through Roughcastle Tunnel, which runs directly under the Antonine Wall. Follow the Union Canal towpath for 1.5 miles and at the junction, past the newly constructed bridge which carries the canal over the road below, turn left and follow the path down a short hill.

Walkers should cross the road and follow the pavement to their right all the way back to the Union Inn car park.
