Inverfarigaig Forest Walks

At Inverfarigaig, 18 miles south of Inverness, an informative visitor centre opens the way to many forest walks, offering relaxing, peaceful surroundings with fine views over the loch and gorge.

The landscape is very diverse and the different habitats make the forest a haven for wildlife, including red squirrels and badgers. There are also several wonderful views of Loch Ness and an iron-age fort site on the rocky outcrop of Dun Dearduil.

The Inverfarigaig and the Falls of Foyers Walk (approx 6.75miles / 11km) is a delightful walk full of variety in paths, flora, tree types, and wildlife. The route rises steeply through forest to a view point overlooking the Loch, and continues, rising and falling as it crosses several ridges, offering good views in all directions, before reaching Upper Foyers. It then descends to Lower Foyers, with views to the Falls. The return to Inverfarigaig is by a variety of paths along the shore of Loch Ness. A shorter walk (approx 2.5miles / 4km) is available which takes you straight to the spectacular Falls of Foyers.
