Wildlife Photography Competition Terms & Conditions 2008
This annual competition is open to anyone except those involved in British Waterways.1.Entries must be digital images - scans or prints are not permitted
2.Digital guidelines:
Format You can enter online by emailing editor@waterscape.com or submit all your images on one CD/DVD (CDs and DVDs will need to be compatible with a Windows-based PC). Send postal entries to Editor, Waterscape.com, 64 Clarendon Road, Watford, WD17 1DA. Include your name and the title of the image.
Save images as JPEGs at the highest possible quality setting (eg 12 in Photoshop).
3.Copyright You must have taken the photograph yourself and be the owner of the copyright for all images entered. By entering your images into the competition, you are allowing British Waterways a non-exclusive license to reproduce the images for any purpose in connection with the competition including, but not limited to, the following purposes:
1.judging the competition
2.display at British Waterways sites within the UK
3.inclusion within promotion of the competition
4.inclusion (if selected as one of the promotional images) within British Waterways marketing and promotional materials (including press packs)
For the avoidance of doubt, BW will choose images from the winning images for the purposes of promotion and marketing. In addition, you grant British Waterways the right to send images to the press for reproduction in connection with the competition.
4.Subjects Images must include dragon or damselflies
5.Manipulation The faithful representation of what you saw when taking the photograph must be maintained. Sandwich shots, double exposures, photographs which consist in any way of more than one separate image and images that have been digitally manipulated are not eligible.
6.Judges The winning photograph will be chosen by the waterscape.com editor. The editor’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the competition’s judging and organisation.
7.Notification Winners will be notified in October 2008 by the waterscape.com editor. The results will be published on waterscape.com.
8.Reproduction British Waterways is entitled, further to rule 3, to reproduce and exhibit in all media (now known or hereafter created) prize-winning and commended entries in connection with the BW Wildlife Survey and photo competition.
9.Liability All entries are sent at the photographer’s risk. British Waterways regret they cannot accept liability for any loss or damage of any images entered in the competition (howsoever caused) nor for any other loss or damage resulting therefrom.
10.CDs can only be returned if photographers enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope
11.Closing date Closing date for online entry is Tuesday September 30th 2008
Young photographer rules
The above rules, apart from rule 4, apply as well as the following:
1.This part of the competition is open to anyone aged 14 or under on the closing date.
2. Subjects Wildlife taken by a canal, river, lake or reservoir. Domestic animals (cats, dogs, farm animals, etc) are not eligible subjects.
