Bridgwater & Taunton Canal

This beautiful Somerset canal might be cut off from the rest of the system, but its well-maintained towpath and fascinating lock structures make for idyllic walking and peaceful boating.

The Bridgwater & Taunton Canal is a well-kept secret - and one fiercely guarded by local people, who have set up a volunteer wardens scheme to look after their canal. But the explorer who stumbles across this idyllic waterway will find a marvellous walking route, featuring the unique Somerset Space Walk, as well as opportunities for boating to the sympathetically developed Bridgwater Docks.
