Slough Arm

The channel is currently only dredged to narrow canal profile, therefore broad-beam craft will have difficulty passing other craft.

Berkhamsted to Braunston

Navigation should be possible for boats of up to 76ft length and 13ft 8in beam, but please consult the waterway office first.

Boats up to 14ft 3in beam may be able to navigate this section, but some bridges have low arches or restricted width below water level.

Locks are more than 14ft wide so two narrowboats can safely share.

Boats over 7ft beam must make special arrangements for passage of Blisworth and Braunston tunnels. Contact the waterway office for details.

Braunston to Camp Hill Top Lock

Boats up to 14ft beam may be able to navigate this section (with the exception of a 12ft 6in bridge at Blue Lias, Stockton), but some bridges have low arches and may not be passable, depending on cabin profile.

Locks are more than 14ft wide so two narrowboats can safely share.
