Cycling along the Peak Forest Canal

The towpath is not open to cyclists. There is excellent cycling nearby on the Middlewood Way, a railway path which runs south from Marple to Macclesfield.

Unfortunately we don’t currently have any information on cycling routes along the Peak Forest Canal.

Towpath Stoppages

Stoppage: Bridge 6, Manchester Road Bridge to Bridge 10, Murrys Bridge.

Towpath has been closed

In order for a third party to undertake emergency repairs to a gas pipe, an emergency stoppage is required on the Peak Forest Canal between bridges 6 and 10 to through navigation and the towpath.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Winding can be found below bridge 6 and above bridge 10.

A towpath diversion will be in place for the duration of the works.
