Fishing along the River Weaver

The River Weaver is a popular river for anglers and caters for all needs with easy access and plenty of car parking facilities and is used for matches most weekends throughout the year. Fish regularly seen in this busy water include: Mirror, Common & Crucian Carp, Rudd, Roach, Dace, Chub, Bream, Tench, Pike, Perch and Eels.

Fishing rights are leased to Winsford & Dist AA (Winsford to Newbridge), Meadowbank Sports & Social Club AS, Northwich Anglers Association (Newbridge to Saltersford), and Weaver Waiters (Saltersford to Sutton Weaver).

  • Vale Royal: One meadow upstream of Hilses Island on the Main Cut; the old river up to the sluice gate and a small portion below the gate. Day tickets on the bank and from local tackle shops.   • Winsford: Left bank upstream off A54 Road Bridge. Day tickets on the bank. Access for wheelchair users at Rilshaw Meadow. Winsford & District Angling Association 01606 593902.
  • Winsford Town Bridge to Newbridge: Day tickets available on the bank. Winsford and District AA.
  • Newbridge to Bostock Works: Day permits available from Meadow Bank Sports and Social Club 01606 592208.
  • Slatersford Locks to Sutton Weaver: Waterway Wanderers Only. British Waterways 01606 723800.
