If you would like to make an impact on your local canal or river make sure you take part in this year’s Towpath Tidy, taking place across the nation’s canal and river network from 26 - 29 March.

Targeting litter hot-spots; painting lock beams and cutting back vegetation are all ways that volunteers will be able to help British Waterways staff smarten up the waterways before the network hits peak season.

Thursday 26 March
Brent Reservoir (10am – 3pm) - small tree works, board walk repairs, and litter clearance.

Bulls Bridge (10am – 3pm), Grand Union Canal Paddington Branch – re-painting the historic bridge, graffiti removal, litter and vegetation removal.

Cheshunt visitor moorings (10am – 3pm), River Lee - lock painting, towpath surfacing works (putting on a topsoil), litter clearance, vegetation works.

Friday 27 March
Slough Arm (10am – 3pm), Grand Union Canal - reed clearance, hedge and tree works, graffiti and litter removal.

Saturday 28 March
City Road Lock to Islington Tunnel (10am – 3pm), Regent's Canal - general spring clean and planting.

Sunday 29 March
Brent Reservoir (10am – 3pm) - small tree works, board walk repairs, and litter clearance.
