Leeds Waterfront Festival plans forge ahead
Plans for this year’s Waterfront Festival are taking shape, with the event expected to be bigger and better than ever before.
Taking place along the Aire & Calder Navigation and the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, on 17-18 July, the festival will feature craft markets, live music, fun water activities, decorated canal boats, Radio Aire and much more.
The festival is organised by Aire Action Leeds and a number of private and public organisations including Welcome To Yorkshire, British Waterways, Leeds City Council, Yorkshire Water and more. It offers a great opportunity to showcase all the waterfront has to offer residents and vistors.
Rachel Clunas, project officer, Aire Action Leeds said: “This year’s festival is really coming together we have so much entertainment planned there is something for everyone.
“Thwaites Mill will be the perfect place for children with plenty of family activities. Further up stream at Clarence Dock, Brewery & Granary Wharf there will be lots to see and do, including historic canal boats, live jazz, aerial circus and arts and craft stalls.
“We’ve all being working so hard to bring this event to the city again this year and now I’m really excited its taking shape. Its going to be brilliant and what’s even better is its all free for everyone to enjoy!”
There is still room available for moorings, although bookings must be made in advance as boats will need to be assigned a suitable space. For more information on moorings contact Simon Henry on 0113 281 6822/07789 178506 or email simon.henry@britishwaterways.co.uk.
