Whether you're out and about for the day or just taking a quick stroll by the canal, the cafe at the top of Caen Hill Lock Flight is a welcome stop-off for all the family - dogs included.

After lunch or afternoon tea in the pergola, enjoy a nature ramble around the historic locks. Water voles, badgers, bats and rare water plants have made their home by this attractive stretch of the Kennet & Avon Canal - and sharp-eyed visitors may be able to spot the difference between 14 species of dragonfly.

Information on other canalside attractions, local heritage, wildlife and the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust is available from the cafe and gift shop - if you can tear yourself away from the homemade cakes!
