Waterway: Huddersfield Narrow Canal »

From 09/03/2012 to 20/04/2012

UPDATE (20 April 2012): Navigation is now open

UPDATE (17 April 2012): British Waterways and its contractors are continuing to work in the lock and have experienced severe difficulty in removing the water from the lock floor.

This is due to the amount of leakage through the lock and the recent wet weather. Works to repair the floor cannot be commenced until this is done.

Whilst there is a possibility that the works could be complete in 14 days but there is a possibility it could take up to a month to repair the lock. We are sorry we cannot be more precise at this stage but will update the stoppage notice as soon as it possible to do so. These works are extra to the recent grouting works at the site following a failure during the commissioning stage, it is still unclear what has caused this failure.

British Waterways apologise for any inconvenience caused. ----------------------------------------------------

UPDATE (11 April 2012): Following the diver's investigations it is necessary to de-water the lock and carry out additional works to the lock floor.

A further update will be issued on Monday.
