Along this fascinating walk you will experience views of canal wildlife as well as the remains of the Wall, its ditch and the odd remnant of Croy Hill fort. The views from here are quite impressive. Also you can still catch the 'Gypsy Princess' at Auchinstarry to go on a short summer outing along the canal.

From Auchinstarry car park take a right along the B802 for a quarter of a mile until you cross over the canal, at which point you should descend to the towpath and walk for 1.25 miles all the way to Craigmarloch and the 19th century canal stables.

Turn right to cross back over the canal and across the field until you reach traces of the Wall and the clear ditch imbetween. As you climb Croy Hill the ditch is momentarily lost, but returns again nearer the summit.

Continue back down the hill until you reach the B802 once again, taking a right onto this to get you back to the car park.

Getting there
